Technip Energies, supported by its wholly-owned Norwegian affiliate KANFA, finished the Engineering, Procurement, and Fabrication of two carbon capture pilot units: one for Heidelberg Materials / Shell Catalysts & Technologies, and the second one – for Teck Resources Limited / Shell Catalysts & Technologies.
As a world-leading engineering and technology player, Technip Energies is capitalizing on its 65-year track record to offer and develop new carbon capture solutions for its customers that will support the world’s energy transition. The two carbon capture pilot units are part of Canopy by T.EN™ suite of modular post-combustion carbon capture solutions powered by Shell CANSOLV® CO2 Capture System.
The Canopy Pilots will allow capture of up to 1.5 kilotons of CO2 per annum each, from the immense cement plant of Heidelberg Materials in Edmonton, Canada, and Teck’s Trail Operations, one of the world’s largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes in Trail, Canada. Through pilot units, Technip Energies will demonstrate the reliability of its technology and the efficiency of its CCUS solutions in new industries, empowering customers to capture carbon with confidence.
Knut Bredahl, Managing Director of Operations in KANFA, stated: “We are proud to have completed both Carbon Capture Pilots within the Clients’ tight schedule. This achievement demonstrates our capability to perform fast-track EPF modularized projects while keeping high-quality standards. Our agile approach, alongside the dedication of our team and partners, remains unwavering as we continue to deliver compact modular solutions to assist our clients in achieving their decarbonization objectives.”
Christophe Malaurie, SVP Decarbonization Solutions of Technip Energies, commented: “We are pleased to deliver those two Canopy pilots. This demonstrates Technip Energies’ ability to support our customers through their Decarbonisation journey by capturing carbon with confidence. We strongly believe our new Canopy by T.EN offering will pave the way for more sustainable operations across different industries worldwide.”
The Canopy Pilot units were shipped in October 2023 from the Slåttland yard in Norway and are on the way to be started up in Canada in their respective destination.
