Our teams in France and India have worked closely together to complete an important stage in the upgrading of the SAR refinery in Dakar, Senegal.
Our modular manufacturing team in Dahej, India, has dispatched four heater modules and radiant coils for the existing facility.
The project required extensive collaboration between our employees in, Dakar, Lyon, Delhi, Mumbai and Dahej and was particularly challenging for everyone because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the same time we have achieved 500,000 man hours without a lost time incident (LTI).
Jean-Luc Favaron, SAR refinery Project Manager, declared: “I would like to thank all the teams for their involvement and motivation which made it possible to complete this milestone and continue together to deliver the project.”
The work is being carried out for Société Africaine de Raffinage (SAR - the African Refining Company) and involves upgrading the refinery’s facilities.
We signed the original contract for the work in 2019. The project will allow SAR to process crude oil locally, to provide petroleum products that meet international standards and to increase its production capacity from about 1.2 million tons per year to as much as 1.5 million tons.
Franck Pliya, Senegal Country Director & VP Business Development West / Central Africa stated: “This project is very strategic for Senegal and we were chosen for our professionalism and our ability to adapt to the local context.”
